Once you've defined a map Area around an area of the map you would like to work with, you can use this boundary to track some third party data sources from Open Data and other sources.
For example, if you draw a map Area along a street corridor or a Zoning District in New York City, you can use the Alerts feature to be notified with public records are reported from data sources like 311 or Housing Code Violations to name two options. Here's how to get started with the Alerts feature for you map Areas.
- From the Map section of Ginkgo, select or create the Area of the map you would like to track using the Alerts feature.
- Select "Set up alerts" and check the boxes for the data sources you want to subscribe to in order to receive email alerts when new records in your map area are added to these source.
- You will receive an email each morning any new records are added that will include a summary table of the record details.
