Ginkgo makes it easy to share your data on interactive maps, whether you need to embed a map on your website, host your maps in your community’s Member Portal, or just send someone a quick link to a map through an email.
Here’s a step by step guide to help you share your first map using Ginkgo.
1. Set up the map filters & Select an Area
Use the Map Filters to show the records you want to see on this map.
In this example, we're activating the "Development Activity" filters to share a map of development projects in the Downtown Seattle area.
We're also going to activate the "Opportunity Zones" map Layer to visualize which projects are being developed in one of these Opportunity Zones census tracts.
Select the Area you want to share a map for.
We've already created an Area that encompasses two of the King County Opportunity Zones.
2. Setup your map view
Position the map view so it's zoomed in and centered on the right location.
Keep in mind this may look different on different screen sizes, so feel free to change the size of your browser while setting this up to check things.
In our Development Map example below, we've zoomed in and turned changed the dots for each project to "Show shapes" for each project's property boundaries.
3. Select your Map Settings
Once you're satisfied with the way the map looks, then open up the "Share Map" settings for the Area you've selected (under the Area tools on the left side) and select the features you want your map to have.
You will need to click the “Create Shared Map” button the first time you set this feature up for an Area.
In the example below, we are creating a map of Development in Seattle and we're going to remove the "Available Map Layers" tool from the blue toolbar so that the audience of users we share this map with are not able to interact with this feature.
