Ginkgo is a uniquely designed tool for tracking real estate development and overlaying projects on your maps. This feature-set can be used to showcase projects to the public or analyze development patterns in your area to create custom automated reports. Development Activity records can be added directly on the map or be bulk imported in Tables. For a guide on bulk importing your development records as Development Activity records, click here.
Visit this page for an example of how Ginkgo displays development records as an interactive dashboard to track projects. These maps can be embedded on any of your websites so that your team's updates to development project records show up in real time wherever you share this information.
This article will walk through the process of working with Development records through the Map interface.

- Editing Development information from the map
Viewing Development Activity on the map
First, the development records must be enabled on the map.
Navigate to the Map section.
- Select the FILTERS button on the left vertical toolbar.
- Check the box labelled Development Activity.

Any existing listings records will show on the map once this box has been checked and your map view includes the geographic locations for these records. With this filter active, developments can now be added directly onto the map.
Tip: If one of your records for a listing is not visible, try adjusting or panning your map view and/or refresh the browser to update your map records.
Adding Development Activity directly on the Map
In the same map section.
- Search the address of the prospective area in the top right map window.
- Adjust the pointer by clicking on the map or leave the pointer as-is if the location is accurate.
- Select the LOCATION DETAILS button.
- Select the Add A Record button inside the panel.
- Select Development Activity under Property Details inside the popup window.

A record editor form should popup inside Ginkgo that enables you edit the details of the development project you're adding, similar to how you add any other record in Ginkgo. Various attributes of your development project can be added here, such as status, floor area, use, cost, developer(s), etc.. When all the information you would like to share is added, click the blue "Create Development" button at the bottom of the editor form.
Adding Shapes to Your Development Activity Records
When a development activity is added, Ginkgo automatically gives the record a shape on the map based on its respective property boundary or parcel of land.
Note: Only parcel shapes for a selection of localities are loaded into Ginkgo. Please reach out to inquire about adding parcel data for your area if Ginkgo currently doesn't have anything available in your area.
Once records have been created, parcel shapes can be viewed using the TOOLS button.
- Select the TOOLS button on the left vertical toolbar.
- Enable the option labelled Show Shapes.
The shape of the Development Activity record can be edited as well, for instance if the project includes more than one parcel or an assemblage of adjacent properties. In order to change the shape of your development record, open the record's editor by clicking EDIT over the record's details on the left sidebar. In the editor there is an option to draw inside the mini map.

Selecting DRAW will allow you to change the boundary of the record's shape. IMPORTANT: After dragging the edges towards the corrected shape, be sure to click DONE in the same place you clicked DRAW or your changes will be lost. Then click the Update Development button to finalize all changes.
